On 22 December, 2012, OAO Sovcomflot
held a grand opening ceremony for its
new training & engineering centre (TEC) in
Saint-Petersburg. This unique centre will
provide special training for the company’s
captains and senior officers in preparation
for navigation in the challenging climatic
conditions of the Arctic.

agreement has been signed to merge DNV
and GL. The new entity will be called DNV
GL Group. It will be one of the world’s

acquires Arno Dunkerque
In the middle of December 2012, Damen
Shipyards Group is the new owner of
French shiprepair yard Arno Dunkerque,
the only operator for ship repair and
conversion in the 3rd largest French port,
Dunkirk. The yard will continue its ship repair
and conversion services. Furthermore,
its personnel and management will remain
in place, guaranteeing a seamless transition
of the yard into the Damen Shipyards
Group, which currently consists of more
than 45 shipyards, repair & conversion
yards and related companies.

world's first LNG supply via the Northern
Sea Route.
- Rosneft and ExxonMobil Expand
Strategic Cooperation
Moscow, Russia – February 13, 2013. Rosneft and ExxonMobil have
agreed to expand their cooperation under their 2011 Strategic Cooperation
Agreement to include approximately additional 600,000
square kilometers (150 million acres) of exploration acreage in the
Russian Arctic, and potential participation by Rosneft (or its affiliate)
in the Point Thomson project in Alaska. They have also agreed to conduct
a joint study on a potential LNG project in the Russian Far East.
