of the greatest grain exporters in the world, the Government of
Ukraine attracts investments for construction of new terminals
in the ports. This enables to create new workplaces, to improve
logistics, and to decrease grain losses at transshipment,” said
Alexander Vilkul, Vice prime minister, in the port of Odessa at
the opening ceremony of the first stage of the largest grain
transshipment complex in the Black Sea r egion.

- Russia's largest tanker is named Svet
On 7 November 2013 a naming ceremony took place for Svet,
the first VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) in the Russian merchant
fleet. The 320,000 tonnes deadweight tanker was constructed
at the Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry shipyard
(Huludao, China) and is the first in a series of vessels of this
type ordered by SCF Group (Sovcomflot) for transporting large
quantities of oil internationally. Currently, it is not possible to
construct this class of vessels in Russia.

2013 – ABB, the leading power and automation
technology group, has entered
a joint industry program (JIP) with the
Norwegian oil and gas company, Statoil.
The program will develop solutions for
transmission, distribution and power
conversion systems designed to power
and control subsea pumps and gas compressors
at depths of 3,000 meters and
over vast distances. The agreement is
an important step on the path to develop
complete subsea oil and gas producing
facilities.
