The demand for global natural gas continues

World Energy Outlook by the International
Energy Agency (IEA), natural gas is going
to play a significant role in the world’s
energy mix. Also, demand for liquefied
natural gas (LNG) is expected to be growing
even stronger, particularly in the mid
and long-term. Especially, Asian markets,
such as Japan, South Korea, as well as
Latin American markets are in demand
for LNG and generate the largest rises
in demand growth globally. With a recent
merger with Samsung Heavy Industries,
one of the world’s best shipbuilder, Samsung
Engineering is preparing to be the
major player in this up-striving market.

- Edith Maersk the Largest
Ever Ship on the Thames
The largest ship ever to enter the Thames
arrived on 20th October 2014at DP World
London Gateway, the UK’s new deepwater
container port. The 397-metre-long,
56-metre-wide Edith Maersk has a draught
of 16 metres and carries up to 15,500 TEU
(twenty-foot equivalent units). DP World
London Gateway operates eight of the UK’s
largest quay cranes; their air draft and
overreach capabilities mean that the port is
well-equipped to handle the world’s largest
vessels of today and tomorrow.

- The Port of Tallinn has signed a contract
for the construction of new ferries
Oct. 31, 2014 - The Port of Tallinn has signed contracts with Remontowa
Shipbuilding and Sefine Shipyard shipbuilding facilities for the
construction of four new car-passenger ferry boats to be used on the
lines between the mainland and major Estonian islands; two ferries
are to be built by each shipbuilding facility.

a New Hydrocarbon Field
in the Kara Sea
Sept. 29, 2014 - Rosneft successfully
completed the drilling of the northernmost
well in the world – the Universitetskaya-1
well in the Arctic. According to the results
of the drilling Rosneft has made an oil
discovery at the East-Prinovozemelskiy-1
license area. The drilling was completed
in record-breaking time - in one and a
half month - in compliance with all the
technological and ecological standards
and requirements.
