GEA Heat Exchangers buys Mashimpeks

GEA Heat Exchangers, the international leader in heat exchangers, has taken over the foremost Russian plate heat exchanger company Mashimpeks. This is further indication of GEA's successful expansion strategy and is aimed at consolidating the emergent Russian market. Mashimpeks was founded in 1995 in Moscow as an import/export company and has been a strategic marketing and service partner of GEA PHE Systems for 12 years. Mashimpeks is a licensed manufacturer of plate heat exchanger frames for the Russian market, also for GEA's high-performance gasketed NT-Series. In future the company, with its staff of 120, will operate as GEA Mashimpeks.

In the previous business year Mashimpeks' earnings were around 15 million euros. The company is one of the decisive market competitors in the plate heat exchanger business in Russia. Mashimpeks has two logistics centres with associated manufacturing facilities and a well-structured network of sales and service outlets throughout the Russian Federation – with its own facilities in Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Samara, St. Petersburg and Irkutsk. This guarantees fast and efficient after sales & service for PHEs by GEA.

In Solnechnogorsk, near Moscow and in Novosibirsk in the east of the country, Mashimpeks has been producing frames under license to Russian industrial standards for all ranges of gasketed GEA plate heat exchangers. The plates and gaskets are supplied from Germany by GEA PHE Systems. Mashimpeks specialists then assemble the units in line with customer specifications, and are responsible for the complete after-sales & service.

Russia is a rapidly expanding PHE market. And there is increasing demand specifically in the petrochemical industry, for energy-saving heat recovery in the chemical industry, in power station engineering and in the refrigeration, foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals sectors. This is why GEA Heat Exchangers will continue to expand the existing Mashimpeks service and distribution network to achieve even quicker proximity to the customer. The logistics and production locations will remain and are scheduled for expansion in the medium term to ensure that GEA Mashimpeks can continue to supply the PHE equipment that the customers want just as quickly and in line with their specific needs.
