- GEA Heat Exchangers buys Mashimpeks
GEA Heat Exchangers, the international leader in heat exchangers, has taken over the foremost Russian plate heat exchanger company Mashimpeks. This is further indication of GEA's successful expansion strategy and is aimed at consolidating the emergent Russian market. Mashimpeks was founded in 1995 in Moscow as an import/export company and has been a strategic marketing and service partner of GEA PHE Systems for 12 years. Mashimpeks is a licensed manufacturer of plate heat exchanger frames for the Russian market, also for GEA's high-performance gasketed NT-Series. In future the company, with its staff of 120, will operate as GEA Mashimpeks.

the Aker Arctic Passion seminar
in Helsinki, which is an annual event organised
by Aker Arctic. Representatives
from: shipping companies; shipbuilding

institutes as well as design agencies
participated in the event. Discussions focused
on issues related to the seaborne
transportation of cargoes in the harsh
conditions of the Arctic.

The Transport and Logistics Unit ensures the
water, rail, truck and air transportation of all
cargoes of the Company. In 2010, the unit’s
cargo turnover amounted to 2.5 million tons
with 1 million tons transported along Northern
Sea Route, and approximately 1.5 million tons

vessel breaks all records
as she sails into
the Baltic
The arrival from China of the Rickmersowned
containership Maersk Elba at the
DCT Gdansk terminal on 11 May marked
a new era in Baltic shipping. At 13,092TEU
and carrying containers 17-wide below deck
and 19-wide on the hatchcovers, she is the
biggest container vessel by far ever handled
by a Baltic port.

a new container terminal
operator in Muuga
On April, 11 AS Tallinna Sadam, AS Eesti
Raudtee and Rail Garant, one of the largest
transport companies in Russia, concluded
a contract on the co-operation in launching
a container terminal at the cost of 130 million
euros (more than two billion Estonian
kroons) in Muuga Harbor.

- Nord Stream Pipeline
Moves Another Step
Closer to Completion
The Nord Stream Pipeline takes another
important step towards its target of starting to
deliver gas directly from Russia to the European
Union by the end of 2011. Preparations
for welding together two of the three sections
of the 1,224 kilometre pipeline through the
Baltic Sea have now started. They will be
welded together on the seabed off the coast of
Finland in a complex process expected to take
about two weeks. The technical completion of
the first of the twin pipelines will be achieved
in June, when the final section is welded onto
the pipeline off the Swedish island of Gotland.
Construction of the second of the twin pipelines
is scheduled for completion in 2012.

March 2, 2011 – Christophe de Margerie,
Total’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer,
was invited to meet the Russia’s
President Dmitry Medvedev this afternoon
in Moscow. It gave them the opportunity to
review the overall activities of Total in Russia.
Christophe de Margerie highlighted the
dynamism of relationships of the Group with
Russian partners and expressed its optimism
concerning Total’s future in Russia.
